Easter Cards

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Each Month I send out cards to a few girls who are away at college and really miss seeing them at church each week. I usually write them a note with a post-it note so they can reuse the card. I place it in a regular invitation size envelope and then in a larger envelope – kind of like when you receive a wedding invitation. That way they have an envelope to send the card if they choose. These are a few of the cards I sent them for Easter…

103 Doesn’t this just make you crave your favorite chocolate bunny? Thank you to Connie Babbert for this fun idea . 101

I think little bunnies are so cute, but I like the chocolate bunnies best of all because chocolate bunnies don’t get into your garden and eat all your veggies.
This idea came from the Stampin’ Connection but I do not know the name of the gal who submitted it – sorry. Stampin’ Connection is a great way for demonstrators to share their projects with other demonstrators. If you would like to become a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator there is still time to get in on the 15% off deal for signing up. You can see how much fun we have, wouldn’t you like to join our team too?

100 Thanks to Dawn Griffiths for this cute idea. I love how she had the little bird flying off with the picnic basket.

So For Now...

Happy Easter!!

Easter Cards

Saturday, March 27, 2010

Each month I send out cards to the shut-ins at our church. Several of them are aunties on Dale’s side of the family and I miss seeing them at church. Thought I would share some of the cards I am sending out to them this year for Easter.

106 107

I always try to give credit where credit is due and these card ideas came from itsallaboutstamping blog and Robin Merriman on the Stampin' Connection.

I love the name of this stamp set…Abundant Hope…because that is what we have when we have trusted Jesus Christ as our Savior. I am not ashamed to tell you how much I love Him!!

102 Thank you to Shabbyhorse blogspot for this beautiful card.

I am sure it is extra hard to be stuck at home on Easter Sunday, knowing how much they all love to be fellowshipping with other Believers. I hope these help to brighten their day.

So For Now…

Have a Blessed Easter

STAMP 10

Friday, March 26, 2010

These are the last four cards we made this week at our STAMP 10 class. The ladies are so fun and our time together is so much fun. Won’t you join us some time?! March '10 10

So simple and elegant – the ladies really liked this one the best. Thank you to Sbaker for her idea on Split coast.

March '10 7

A few more layers to this one, but what would class be without a little challenge?! Fos and Friends SS can be ordered through April 30th in the Occasions Mini catalog. Thanks to Stephanie Sullivan at Stampin’ Connection for this idea.

March '10 8 March '10 8a

This is a new fold style which just gives the ladies another option for when they are making cards at home. The inside sentiment “but most of all … YOU!” is hidden by the front panel when the card is closed. Thanks to Peggy Sue at Stampin’ Connection for this idea.

March '10 9 Last, but not least, a card using the masking technique. This could be Get Well (like here) or any sentiment you choose. I just need more Get Well cards right now so that is why I stamped it with Get Well. Thank you to mrsbozblogspot for this idea.

Sketch challenge SCCSC7

Friday, March 19, 2010
I am really not into sketch callenges, but when I ran across this challenge it looked intriging to me and wanted to give it a whirl. Since I had to make a get well card for a guy at church who had 'open knee surgery' as he calls it (he broke his knee cap) I thought I would try it out for his card.

So this is what I came up with...How do you like it? I happened to have this truck already stamped and on my craft table when I was making other cards that you will see later. I didn't want it to go to waste so I decided my colors for the card around the colors I had used on the truck. Sorry but the cardstock, inks and the stamp set are all retired.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

OK – I bet you are all sick of seeing St. Patrick’s Day themed cards – but I just had a few more to share so I will put them on the same posting today.  I hope you like them.

95 This one is made using all new items from Stampin’ Up! And I took a little liberty with some non-SU shamrock stamps for the others.  I computer generated the LUCKY ME because I didn’t have the retired stamp set called “Pinch Proof”.93 This little monkey card is going to my little Charlie for his first St. Patrick’s Day and the cute turtle card is going to Sammy.94 After I made them I was thinking they really didn’t need to be St. Patrick’s Day at all – they would be great to give your hubby for your anniversary – or just on a day you feel like telling him how blessed (isn’t that a much better word than ‘lucky’?) you are to have him in your life.

So here are the menu items for each card:

Card 1:
SS: Go Green
CS: Glorious Green, Green Galore, WW
INK: Glorious Green and Green Galore Markers
Accessories: Full Heart Punch, Wide Oval Punch, WW Organza Ribbon, Dimensionals, Big Shot, Magnetic Movers and Shapers  Punch Windows, Perfect Dot EF, Finial Press EF, Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslits Die

Card #2 and #3
SS: Fox and Friends, Holiday Blitz (small shamrock)
CS: Always Artichoke, WW, Handsome Hunter, Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink
INK: Artichoke Marker, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Staz On Jet Black
Accessories: Always Artichoke 1/4” grosgrain ribbon, Bearly Lovely BABW sizzlit (bow), Sponge, Wide Oval Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch

Thank you to http://stampinginspiration.blogspot.com for card #1 and to http://stampndesign.blogspot.com for cards #2 and 3

After I made these cute Valentine mailboxes for her kids, she thought a fun leprechaun would do the trick. I think he turned out pretty cute. Red Hot Challenge

Friday, March 12, 2010
At February’s Red Hot Stamper’s Down line meeting, Glenda gave us a challenge. In the Occasions Mini (pg 34) they are selling Chipboard - On Board Books for $4.95. They have three choices: Heart (6” x 5 3/8”), Scallop Circle (6” diameter), and a Bird (8-1/4” x 3-3/8”). Glenda purchased the Bird On Board Book and after punching out the bird she was left with this86 (I took this picture against a black background so it would show up better)

She gave each of us one of these bird punch outs and said “now it’s your turn to make something from this.” Well, knowing that Rachel is the “Queen of Challenges” I knew I had to get on the ball and put my idea to work. Lately I have been making scrapbook pages for my daughter, Julie, to help her out and to get my scrapbook “fix” (since I am all caught up with my pictures) so I guess I had scrapbooking on the brain when Glenda gave us the Bird outline. Well… what do you think?

87

It will look so much cuter with pictures of Tyler and Gracie on it, but you get the idea. Once again I was able to use up some retired paper. Dies I used are the Loopy Flower and Swirly Decorative Strips and the Scallop Circle #2 for the Wing. Her eyelashes are snipped and flared although it is hard to see from this picture. The wing is also snipped, and raised with dimensionals.

Here are the challenge results from the other gals… This is what Rachel came up with and she plans to hang it on her front door. Pretty!!

Glenda used hers as a stencil as well and stenciled two birds (facing each other) on her Stampin' Room wall. I couldn't get a good picture because the color was so light...she was testing a new color out for her wall. She even suggested how cute it would be to put a variety of colored birds around the room. Really the ideas are endless.

We had a real small group so these were the only ones who participated. Check in on next months challenge - it is a color challenge. We'll see if I can come up with something fun for that.

So For Now...
Happy Stamping!!

St. Patrick’s Day Treat Tin

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

After you do stamping for a while you learn to save things like tins, boxes and so forth that you can reuse for another project. That is exactly what this is. I had ordered a tin of mixed nuts from one of the kids selling to earn money for their school and when it was empty I thought for sure I would be able to use it again. It has been sitting in my closet for over a year, but this year it ‘clicked’ when I was looking for something to make my little Leprechaun Treat for Tyler and Gracie.

Charlie and Friend

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

Just a break from sharing cards – I will show you how big Charlie is getting. It has been fun having a baby around the house again, but I forget how heavy they can get when they want you to carry them around all the time. I have tried a carrier, but I just cannot get used to them. I still can’t do extra stuff with them right in front of me, and he still wants me to interact with him so I might just as well sit on the floor or carry him, but these Gramma arms are not the same as they were 31 years ago when we started our family. At 4 months old Charlie really is still a wonderful baby and I love it how he lights up when you talk with him. DSCF2015 Charlie if full of smiles most of the time, however right now he is teething – tooth number 1 popped through a couple weeks ago, so that can sometimes makes for some fussy spells.DSCF2051 Charlie now has a friend that comes a couple days a week. Meet Sammy…DSCF2001DSCF2002 How could anyone resist those beautiful baby blues?!! I bet Charlie can’t wait until he can get right down there with Sammy to play with all the toys. I personally think that I take care of the cutest boys around!! That, of course, includes our grandson, Tyler.
