This is the get well card that I sent to her… I just love our new Two Step Owl Punch and I am having a lot of fun making things with it. This card design came from DarleneDesign.com

Same Layout, Different Stamp Set

Thursday, July 29, 2010
When I browsed through the new Catalog and Idea Book I saw this stamp set called IN WILDERNESS and because it had an eagle in it I knew it was going to be one of the first stamp sets that I bought. Our son, Jeff, loves eagles – and a favorite verse is “And they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up on wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” Isaiah 40:31. Right away I put together these two cards

In Wilderness 1

But I found myself leaning towards the large buffalo stamp more than the eagle for a card for our STAMP A STACK class.

July '10 7

One of the gals at class wasn’t quite into the big buffalo so she chose to use the LOVELY AS A TREE stamp set.

July '10 9

I love the way we can change up the look by a simple substitution.

MENU:
SS: In Wilderness, Lovely As A Tree
CS: Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake (don’t you just love the names of these two papers? Makes me want to get in the kitchen and bake a chocolate chip crumb cake! tehe)
INK: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Designer Buttons (Neutrals), Top Note Die, Big Shot, Linen Thread, Glue dot, Dimensionals, Sponge, Square Lattice EF, Brads – Brights – Card #1

This week we say good-bye to a friend who has fought a brave battle with cancer, but now is safe in the arms of Jesus – no more pain. This is my least favorite card to make but definitely one of the most important to send.

What a wonderful promise we find in God’s word.

Feeling Sick?

Monday, July 26, 2010
This is another fun card that we made at last weeks STAMP A STACK.  I love the new stamp set used in this card called WORD PLAY, and I love the fact that you can combine old favorite stamp sets like PICK A PETAL and make it feel new again.  I think I use this stamp set more often for things other than a flower – but isn’t this little guy so cute?!

Keeping it Simple

Saturday, July 24, 2010
At our last downline meeting Glenda challenged us to make a card that was simple.  No layers, no embellishments…who would have thought that would be soooo hard to do because I love the layers, the dimensions, the ribbons, etc.  She did say that we were allowed to use one layer besides the base card and we could use an embossing folder – but that is IT.  YIKES!

Well, I knew that I wanted to use my new Circle Circus Stamp Set that I WON!!! (EARNED) FREE from Glenda – (Thank you Glenda!) for hostessing a workshop.  I'm sure you heard me say it before, but I belong to the BEST stamping group ever!  GO RED HOT STAMPERS! I must say that I was disappointed in my turn out that night (one lady from church besides three demos), but my daughter was in charge of a mother daughter craft day at the elementary school and because of her order the mystery hostess received a LOT of free product!  She was so thankful that she helped my daughter on the craft day by manning one of the craft tables!  Thanks Marla!

This is the card that I came up with for Clean and Simple

clean and simple cardSince I could not use glitter, shimmer paint or ANYTHING FUN … I used shimmer paper instead.  I even kept it simple with one color.  I really like the black and white.

Now to “Step It Up” a bit – I rounded the corners, sprayed it with Champagne Mist Shimmmer Paint (hard to see in the photo but it is soooo pretty), Added a tag with Dimensionals and NOW I like it much better.  Which one do you like?

We actually used the Stepped up version at this weeks STAMP A STACK

“Choo Choo” I’m Wild About You

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

My daughter had a chance to go to Chicago this past weekend with her friend to the IKEA store, and it made me think about how I have wanted to take a train ride to Chicago some day so I pulled this card out of the archives.  A photo I hadn’t posted yet.  The Choo Choo Stamp Set is still currant but the Wild About You animals stamp set has retired (sorry).  I guess I don’t mind cutting pieces out – I guess it is good therapy for me, but there is a LOT of cutting for this card.  I also used up some old retired designer paper called Delicate Dots. Thank you to My Sassy Stamper on Splitcoast Stampers for this fun idea.

“Let the little children come to Me”

Monday, July 19, 2010
I have had this variety of frames in the room where the children play, but when I moved the furniture around my friend Melissa helped me form it into one collage of frames.  There was still that little something missing so my friend, and fellow Red Hot Stamper, Rachel, used her Cricut machine to make me some wall words.  I chose the words from Matthew 19:14 where Jesus said “Let the little children come to Me and do not forbid them for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
I couldn’t wait to get them on the wall and I really like the font and size that Rachel chose for me.  THANK YOU RACHEL!  This is another wonderful reason to be a Red Hot Stamper… I have made so many new, dear friends, and we have sooo much fun together.

Rachel has a REALLY funny story to tell about how her dog, Teddy, was sprayed by a skunk and all that went into de-pewing their home, the dog and themselves.  We laughed so hard when she told us all about it.  Rachel is a GOOD story teller!   I wanted to send Rachel a thank you note for cutting out the letters for me, and I thought, at this time, this was the most appropriate card to send her.

Wedding Cake #2

Saturday, July 17, 2010
Once again, yesterday’s wedding was absolutely beautiful and reflected the personalities of the bride and groom.  I just love seeing all the differences and how perfect they are for them.  This is the cake they chose for me to make…Sellaro cake
Very simple yet elegant and reflects the style of the wedding.
Sellaro cake close up Sellaro  Not sure why they didn’t want this cute little bride and groom on the top of their cake, but perhaps it would have taken away from the gorgeous live orchids that were on the cake.

Congratulations Lilian and Dan!!

Totally Tools

This is such a great “guy” stamp set, I was so glad that it carried over into the new Catalog and Idea Book.  I don’t know what we would have done over all these years if I didn’t have such a handy hubby.  I guess I am pretty spoiled because my dad is very handy as well, and taught Dale many tricks of the trade over the years.  Dale got his electrical training from his father and his plumber training from a mentor at church when he was just a teenager.  Now 33 years of married life and the only thing we have had to hire out is our carpet laying.  Thanks Babe for all your hard work around our home(s) over all these years.

98 Right now we are in the middle of a BIG painting job.  Our son Jeff removed most of the wallpaper in our dining room, kitchen and bath/utility room jeffs home 1          and then the halls 1 painting has begun.  There is still a lot to do like altering a cabinet and removing the remainder of the wallpaper behind the refrigerator and the washer/dryer, but in a few weeks it should all be done!  This is the front entry – you can see the old color paint on the side panels and the new color on the door.  On the far left where you see a brown wall – that used to be blue – so there are a lot of changes, but I am really liking the warm feeling it gives.

I was so happy when Stampin’ Up! decided to bring back Riding Hood Red and put it in our core colors.  Of course, they didn’t bring back the Kiwi Kiss shown here, but I couldn’t resist using some of my retired Designer paper with the Riding Hood Red in it. Thanks goes to Twila Mooneyham for this cute card idea.

This litte guy is on the move

Monday, July 12, 2010

Charlie turned 9 months old last week – WOW! – where has the time gone?  He has been such a fun baby, and now this little guy is on the move – he can get ANYWHERE he wants and in a full out crawl.  His favorite things…toys…NOPE – he likes paper, boxes, bags, cords…I have to get right down to his level and look to see what he is seeing so I know what needs to be put up just a bit higher.19h 19 19a 19b 19c 19d 19e 19f 19g Watch out world – here he comes!!  Now won’t this be interesting in a couple months when I get another new born to take care of!!

OK – several have asked when I will do another Charlie inspired card so here is one from a photo I took a while back.  Charlie’s daddy is a Michigan State fanstate charlie and I made several football themed Build a Bear cards like this one, DSCF2306 but my Michigan State football player sold at the first craft sale so here is the cheerleader counterpart to the State Football player.DSCF0001
