Designer Printed Kit Cards

Tuesday, February 28, 2012
When we went to Leadership conference in January we were all given a full Designer Printed Kit.  I generally don't buy the kits like this but they were a great addition to the cards that we made for the Make & Takes.  The kit also comes with some pretty pink basic rhinestones but that photo came out too blurry.  You'll just have to see them on the finished cards. The kit comes with two 12 x 12 sheets of printed die cuts along with the sheet of Rhinestones
Designer Printed Kit

The Designer Printed Kit is found on page 18 in the Occasions Mini and only cost $9.95
I saw this idea on LeAnn Greff's blog, so I CAS'ed a few and made up some of my own ideas
I was able to make 24 cards using the Note Cards found on pg. 184 in the Big Catalog
#107311 $5.95.  The cards measure 5x3 1/2 and come with envelopes in a package of 20

I'm really liking how these turned out, I might just have to make a habit of
purchasing these type kits in the future.

Have a Blessed Day!!

February Cakes

Monday, February 27, 2012
In January I had only one cake order...

Just a very basic 9 x 13

February had two orders, but one cake never got it's picture taken (oops)

This one was for our pastors, wife's sister....

Tyler and Gracie had a snow day on Friday so we all put our skills together and made a carrot cake.

Tyler peeled ALL of the carrots

and Gracie did the grating.  I was amazed at how she stuck right with it.

Whir Whir Whir
My Carrot Cake recipe calls for yummy Crushed Pineapple
Here is the finished product - we served it to our prayer group at our meeting Saturday evening
This is the "finished off" product.  Boy was it yummy!!! All 15 Weight Watcher points worth!!

I have a wedding cake order in May for a carrot cake and I needed to practice - mostly on the frosting, but I thought it was a good excuse to make one for our group.

Have a Sweet Day!!

It's Sunday and a chance to stamp with the Red Hots!

This is the sketch challenge for this week...

And this is my take on it...

The first thing I thought when I saw this sketch challenge was..."Envelope?" "Do they want me to decorate/design an Envelope?" - But NO - I needed to create a card.
What will be my inspiration??
I thought I should access the beautiful Enchanted Designer Paper and the 8 1/2" x 11"
In Color card stock that I got FREE from Sale A Bration.
And better yet - let's feature a stamp set that I also got FREE from Sale A Bration.
What is Sale A Bration?
Sale A Bration runs from January 24, 2012 through March 31, 2012
For every pre-tax order of $50.00 you get one item FREE from the Sale A Bration Flyer
And I must say this is the best one yet!!
So there is still time to get in on the FREEBIES
Contact me today or email me at christiwaite@gmail.com
(if you have been a regular follower of my blog you will need to note that
this is a new email address)
Or click HERE and you can go to my Stampin' Up! on line site and place an order yourself.

Of course I wanted to decorate a matching envelope

This is NOT a Stampin' Up! Very Vanilla envelope, but I wanted the kind with the pointed flap so it would match the card.  I will show you the difference between a Stampin' Up! envelope and a store bought one...

The Stampin' Up! envelope has a beautifully rounded flap instead of the point
The quality of the paper is amazing!  The Very Vanilla is a softer shade than the ivory color you get in the store, and matches (of course) perfectly with the Very Vanilla card stock.

Click on over to the Red Hot Stampers blog to see what the other ladies have
done with this same sketch.

CARD MENU:

INK: Pool Party, Lucky Limeade
PUNCHES: Bird Builder, Boho Blossoms, Scallop Border
Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots EF, Big Shot, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Day Care Re-visited and New Classes

Wednesday, February 22, 2012
You asked for it??? You got it!!

I have heard your requests and now I am putting them into action !!

Starting in March, I will be adding one more class per month and each month will have a different theme. I will try to keep the cost at $12.00 (what you are used to paying for a Stamp A Stack class), but there may be occasion to increase it just a tad depending on the theme that month.

So here is your list of classes and dates to add to your calendar...

MARCH - BOW MAKING CLASS!! THURSDAY, MARCH 29, 7:00 PM This is probably the biggest request so I thought I would do it first.
If you would like to purchase the Double D Bow Maker that we will be using that night please give me a heads up so I can get them from my friend who makes them.
Cost is $7.50 for the Bow Maker Plus the cost of class $12.00. And that will include a link to a video tutorial as well, so if you forget what I showed you in class you can go to that, but I am not allowed to give out that link without a purchase.

APRIL - ALL FEMININE CARDS - APRIL 19, 7:00 PM
With Mother's Day coming in May This is the perfect opportunity to make a card for Mom as well as stock up on cards for all occasions from baby to sympathy to everything in between.

MAY - ALL MASCULINE CARDS - MAY 24, 7:00 PM
Next on the list is Father's Day in June so this will be your chance to have a card ready for Dad as well as stock up on cards for all occasions from baby to sympathy to everything in between.

JUNE - ALL KIDS CARDS! JUNE 28, 7:00 PM
This is probably the second most requested class, but I put it off until June so I could get the Mother's Day and Father's Day in there at the appropriate timinig. We will go up through approx. the teenage years. Will see how the spirit moves when I plan the cards.

JULY - With our son's wedding coming in early August, I will be skipping a July special class, but will plan to have one in AUGUST - Have any special requests for a class? I am open to your suggestions.

*PLEASE REPLY TO EACH CLASS 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF THE CLASS SO I CAN PREPARE

*SAME AS ALWAYS PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN ADHESIVE TO KEEP THE REASONABLE COST AT $12.00

LOOKING FORWARD TO SOME MORE FUN NIGHTS AHEAD!

A few weeks ago we invited two of my previous day care
families to join us for dinner.
It was fun to see the boys back together again.

Remember Charlie?

Well, he has a new baby sister now, meet Alexis (Lexie)

Remember Parker?

You can see he is going to be a big brother real soon too

By the end of the evening Uncle Dale had Parker engaged in a drawing game

I loved all the hugs and kisses they gave me when they came and when they left
but when it is all said and done, I realize I made the right decision to retire.
They are all thriving in the new child care provider homes
and I am so happy for them all.
I will always enjoy keeping up with how they grow up,
these were some of the very best years of my life.

Have a Blessed Day!!

February Stamp A Stack Part 2

Monday, February 20, 2012
I try not to have the cards be too difficult, but there are times when
I need to sneak just one card in there that is a little bit more
"something/something."

CARD #3

MENU:
SS: Loving Thoughts, Fifth Avenue Floral (stem)
CS: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Enchantment DSP
INK: Soft Suede, Lucky Limeade
PUNCHES: Small Heart, 1 1/4" Circle, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer,
Scallop Trim Border
Accessories: Basic Pearls, Baja Breeze Pleated Ribbon, Chantilly Lace, Dimensionals
Tips: I used a mini mister spray bottle w/rubbing alcohol and added several
drops of Soft Suede ink refill and sprayed the Very Vanilla Cardstock. Using
the 1 1/4" Circle Punch I rounded one corner and then using my bone folder,
I broke down the fibers on that corner and then purposefully separated the layers
in the card stock. The leaves were also made using the 1 1/4" Circle Punch.

Valentine's Party

Saturday, February 18, 2012
Yes, I know Valentine's Day is done, but I wanted to share the Valentines that our grand kids made for their classmates. It was fun being a part of this activity with them.

Gracie needed something simple.
She chose this simple heart card that I saw on Dawn Griffith's blog

Gracie chose the colors blue (for the boys at school), pink (for her three girl cousins) and purple (for the girls at school), yellow (for the names she couldn't remember so they could be for boy or girl) and then ONE Green one for Jeremy because "Green is Jeremy's favorite color". Hmmm - Jeremy huh!!?? guess Gracie has her first crush. Gramma helped with stamping the heart and embossing the heart band, Mommy punched out all the hearts, helped Gracie with stamping "Happy Valentines Day" and putting all the dimensionals on the back of the hearts. Gracie stamped and put all the hearts on the front. After 29 valentines she was tired of it.

Tyler, on the other hand, chose a more complicated Valentine and treat. You can see him punching out all the pieces he needed -

to make these cute owls to attach to a pencil.

He stuck right with it and seemed sad when the process was done. I can't remember whose blog I saw this on - sorry. You actually remove the pencils eraser and feed the bakers twine through one of the little holes (using a dental flosser) and then you can choose to put the original eraser back in or (a better option) to add an eraser to the top over the empty hole.

Hope your Valentine Day was SWEET!

Thanks for Stopping By!!
