New Jersey Workshop

Saturday, August 31, 2013
What am I doing in New Jersey?  Besides spending quality time with my sister, that is?
Lynette was so sweet to set up a group of ladies who love to stamp - in fact they meet once a month to stamp cards together - and arranged a Workshop for me to do with them.

These are the cards that they made on Wednesday...

I had attended a card class at my fellow Red Hot Stamper's Sara Hoogendoorn and thought the Cherry Cobbler card would be a great one to take with as it didn't need a lot of ink and so forth.  Same thing for the Coastal Cabana Card except I switched this one up just a bit.  The Sympathy card was inspired by LeeAnn Greff and I thought it would be great to feature some of our BEST OF stamps.  It uses the BEST OF BUTTERFLIES #133345 $14.95 and PAPILLION  POTPOURRI #123759 $14.95 for the butterflies and BEST OF GREETINGS #133485 $14.95

No better way to travel than to be able to pack your suitcase full of Stampin' Up! products!!

I am so thankful to have the chance to meet new ladies who share the love of stamping like I do.

Simply Sketched Sympathy

Friday, August 30, 2013

I absolutely love the way this card turned out, and yet sad for the occasion that it is intended for. This card and MANY more are for sale at the USED TO BE NEW Consignment Shop in Hudsonville.  Won't you come and support me by buying my hand stamped cards?!  They are only $2.00 each!! What a great way to help out a friend and keep your business local.  I saw a stamp at a craft store that said "If this card wasn't so cute it would be a Hallmark" (or something like that) I had to laugh because if you buy a card at the HM store you pay at least twice the price.  This way you get a great deal for a HAND STAMPED CARD plus you help out a local gal (me!) to support her business!
This card was inspired by Nicole Tugrul

Holiday Catalog Blog Hop

Thursday, August 29, 2013
Today I am participating in a Holiday Catalog Blog Hop with the RED HOT STAMPERS and France Martins group called INK WITH FRENCHIE.  So if you are hopping along with us on the Holiday Catalog Blog Hop you have reached my blog from Sara's blog.  At the end of this post I will give you the link to the next step on the blog.

We were told we needed to make 2-3 items from the Holiday Catalog.

Here is what I came up with using the FESTIVE FLURRIES BUNDLE

Inside Greeting is from CHRISTMAS MESSAGES.
My second project is a Ghiradelli Treat holder.  I received one at the Leadership last January which had a Valentine theme to is so I wanted to revamp it for craft sales, and this BLOG HOP.
The designer paper is called WINTER FROST, colors used are Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder.  I stamped the snowflake using the Silver Metallic Encore Stamp Pad and Silver Embossing Powder.  The fabulous 1/8" Silver Ribbon adds just that extra bit of glimmer!
Open it up to find your treat.
My third item is a gift card holder

INSIDE:

The tiny snowflake is from the Hostess Exclusive  stamp set called WARMTH and WONDER. The darling "bling" in the center of the snowflake is called FROSTED FINISHES EMBELLISHMENTS.  All these products are available in the Holiday Catalog. (Which is why we called this the Holiday Catalog Blog Hop!!)

And here are all three of my projects together:

Happy Birthday Joey!

Tuesday, August 27, 2013
Today is our son, Joey's, birthday.  Since both of our boys are home owners we decided to give them gift cards to Lowes for their gift.  It seems like there is always something to be done in home maintenance so for this year it was the perfect gift.  This is the card that we made at a punch art class and I knew it would be perfect to hold Joey's gift card.

I was sad when they discontinued this TOOL SHED background stamp, but I am glad that I hang on to all my background stamps.
This card was inspired by Nance Leedy.

And since we had not seen Joey and Melissa at their first anniversary time we brought along their gift when we celebrated Joey's birthday at a fun restaurant called GOOG's  funny name isn't it??!!
Everyone knows that Hallmark tells us that the traditional first anniversary gift is "paper", right?  So what to give them?

Tissue, Toilet paper and Paper Towel of course!! Oh, and a gift card so they can go out to eat, and a candle for a little romantic atmosphere.
Check out this gift card holder that I made them.  I used the wrapping paper that I used to wrap their gifts so it would all match.

I have made this style gift card holder many times, and thought it would be a fun and easy gift card holder for Joey and Melissa.

Anchor's Away!

Monday, August 26, 2013

Whenever I see this anchor from the stamp set THE OPEN SEA #128454  $28.95  I think of my daddy who served in the Navy during WW11.  (Inspired by Penny Smiley)
This would be a great card to send for Veterans Day!
A little 'bling' using the Champagne Glimmer Paper  #127885 $4.95 is just the right touch.

RHSSC #103

Check out today's Red Hot Stamper Sketch Challenge!!
This is what we had to work with...

I should call this a LUCKY LEFTOVER Sketch Challenge...
I was making cards for one of the classes I am holding during my vacation and I had these butterflies from the BEST OF BUTTERFLIES Stamp Set sitting on my work station.  All I did was cut them out and then I smooshed them all with Versa Mark and embossed them with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool to really make them stand out.  Wish you could see how they sparkle in the photo. The flourish stamp (just like in yesterday's card) is from EVERYTHING ELEANOR stamped with Soft Sky ink.  The Thank You is from the NEW stamp set called LOTS OF THANKS.

And this is one of the cards the ladies will be making this week at the New Jersey Stamp Class using the BEST OF BUTTERFLIES stamp set. I had made up a bunch of these butterflies trying to decide the right color combo so I had several of them just sitting on my work station.  These are what inspired my Red Hot Stamper Sketch Challenge card!
Sweet and Simple - inspired by: Melissa Davies - a no extra postage card! This time the specks in the back ground are from the stamp set GORGEOUS GRUNGE.

Now hop on over to the Red Hot Stamper Blog to see what the other gals did with this sketch challenge, and while you are at it why not play along with us and our Sunday Sketch Challenges.  Just use the Mr Linky to upload a photo of your card to our blog.

Mosaic Madness MDS

Friday, August 23, 2013

This saying, I'm sure, can apply to most of us on any given day.  It was generated through My Digital Studio using the download called FANTABULOUS YOU, and was inspired by Kerry Bunting.  Once I printed out the words I stamped images from MOSAIC MADNESS, popping the bottom one up on a dimensional!  I love the outcome!  So actually - I am hitting the ESCAPE button today and hubby and I are heading to Detroit where we will hop a plane for a week vacation in New Jersey at my sister, Lynette's house.  Never fear - I will have a daily post for you even while I am gone!!

Walk in the Wild

Monday, August 19, 2013
WALK IN THE WILD is one of the newest Masculine stamp sets in the 2012-2014 Catalog.  My brother in law went on a moose hunt last year and got his on the first part of his trip.  What an experience for him and we have been the lucky recipients of a moose-burger a couple times - very yummy!  But I am glad that this beautiful moose is in the wild, safe from the hunters.

Whoooo Love You Baby!!

Friday, August 16, 2013
I absolutely love owls.  It all started when Stampin' Up! came out with the Owl Builder Punch
#118074 $16.95
I use this handy dandy owl punch for a million different punch art projects, and is a MUST HAVE for any stamper/crafter

So how did I get my large owl for my full sized card?
I punched out an owl and the vest in Basic Black, put it on our copier/scanner and increased the size until I got is exactly the way I wanted.  Wish I could remember how much I increased it but I failed to write it down - sorry.  Then I folded a piece of Soft Suede Card Stock 4 1/4 x 11, placed the owl printout so the ears went just over the fold and then just cut it out.

I still cased this cute owl from Bronwyn Eastly.  I believe she said that she made her large owl using MDS (My Digital Studio), but I found my way to work perfectly - especially for those of you who do not have MDS - Yet!!

How many chances do you get to make a 100th Birthday card??

OUCH!

Wednesday, August 14, 2013
Two weeks ago my sister took a terrible fall - well actually she jumped and crumpled, breaking the large bone in her upper right leg, shattering her knee and the two bones in the lower leg.  She is in for a very long recovery - no weight baring until the end of the year.  My mom and sisters were scheduled for a shopping day, but we cut it short so we could bring Vicky some lunch and have a nice long visit.
My sister Judy (on the left) needed a card to give Vicky (in the wheelchair) so this is what I made for her to give to Vicky (inspired by Julia Leece)
Another fun Punch Art Card!!  My favorite!!
The words were generated on my computer using WORD.

Praying for my sister that her lengthy healing time will seem to go quickly, and that she will regain full use of that leg again.

August Punch Art Class + Kitchen update

Tuesday, August 13, 2013
Next week Tuesday, August 20th is the next Punch Art Class and these are the cards that we will be making...

I thought these were perfect Summer Themed cards.  I left off the greetings thinking the ladies could put the greeting of their choice on it and wouldn't be hindered by what I chose for them.  They were inspired by Lorri Heiling who was inspired by Connie Babbert. (see I am not the only one who posts cards from another stamper!!) (camera), Brandy Cox (flamingo) and the lobster was a punch art I used on a scrapbook page years ago so thought I would resurrect him on a card.  I had to change up the punch for his claws.  Originally I used the small oval, but since that is retired I used the Bird Builder Punch instead and I love the added shape so much better.

Here are the details...
WHEN: Tuesday, August 20, 7pm
COST: $12.00
What do I get? You get 3 - 8x8 pages for your punch art album that has all the instructions for when you want to recreate any of these fun punch art items and you will make up these three cards.  Everything is supplied for you except I ask that you please bring along your own adhesive to help keep the cost of my classes reasonable.  Thanks
RSVP: by Sunday, August 18th - christiwaite@gmail.com

When Dale has off on Monday's it is his day to make some fast tracks on the projects here at home. Here is the progress he is making on the last set of cabinets in the basement kitchen.
Tyler helped Grampa with sanding and staining

Gracie helped Gramma in the kitchen to make a super yummy breakfast brunch complete with eggs, pancakes and eggs for our hungry working men.
Then she kept Grampa entertained with her imagination while he worked on staining the cabinets

Stop in to check it all out for yourself!  He does amazing work!!  I cannot wait to get it filled up with all my cake pans and craft sale supplies along with all the Christmas decorations.  I'm sure I will find that there is still never enough room!
