Sentimental Sunday

Sunday, January 31, 2016
Last week our son Joey and DIL Melissa came over for dinner and some crafting time.  A co-worker of hers recently suffered a loss and the crew was collecting money to help them out.  I love it that they are compassionate people.  Someone suggested that they get a card for everyone to sign, but Melissa said they should make a really BIG one because there will be a LOT of signatures.  They knew right where to come!
They bought a poster board and trimmed it down just a bit then we went to town sponging and creating a scene.
Melissa drew the lighthouse and then used my way-back-retired watercolor crayons.  The sky consists of 3 shades of blue...Soft Sky, Pool Party and Island Indigo with some So Saffron by the sun. The dunes were created using Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake.  The grasses are from the retired stamp set INSPIRED BY NATURE in So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, and Crumb Cake.  The alphabet stamp set she chose is SOPHISTICATED SERIFS (retired)
I think she did an Awesome job!!

Apple of my Eye

Friday, January 29, 2016
APPLE OF MY EYE is one of the stamp sets that I received when I attended the ON STAGE LOCAL Stampin' Up! event in Wisconsin last year.

This next one is a 3x3 card and it is the one that Gracie will find in her lunch box today.
Gracie told me that her friends at school anxiously await to see what note her Gram-Jam will put in her lunch each week.  This sure did bring a smile to my face!!

Wink of Stella

Thursday, January 28, 2016
One of the new amazing products that came out in the Occasions Catalog this year is called WINK OF STELLA.  It comes with 2 choices: Clear or Gold.

At this months Card Club we used the fabulous new product on 2 of our cards.
I really wish it showed up better in the photos, but I brushed the WINK OF STELLA over the "hello" as well as a small streak on the ballons and on the clear stripes of the washi tape.  It really does add that little extra glimmer and the beauty is that it dries so fast.  The "hello" stamp is from one of the FREE Sale a bration sets appropriately called HELLO.
This second card is made using the Plastic Wrap Technique (for the background). The flowers are from the FREE Sale a bration set WHAT I LOVE and the "Happy Birthday" is also from one of the FREE Sale a bration sets called PERFECT PAIRINGS.   I brushed the WINK OF STELLA over each flower to give them a bit of glimmer.
Any of these FREE items can be your with a $50.00.  Please click HERE to shop with me.  This is the Hostess Code for January: 7M6VN3U2.  If your order reaches $150 please do not use the Hostess Code because you will automatically be your own hostess and receive 10% off your sales.

January Paper Pumpkin

Monday, January 25, 2016
January's Paper Pumpkin kit has arrived, and I always get so excited to see what's inside.
This time we got a ton of heart shapes and banners to punch out and the directions that come with the kit show how to create a banner and some treat pouches.  The ink spot is Watermelon Wonder
This is the stamp set you get...  "MEH"  - what??? I had to google it - this is what they said...
Indifference; to be used when one simply does not care.  I decided I probably won't use that one (lol), but maybe I can spell it backwards for HEM or HE or ME.  Just thinking...
As a team (Christi's Creative Crew, and The Red Hot Stampers) we put our heads together to come up with alternative ideas.  Some will remain exclusive, but this one I will share since Gracie and I will be making these as treats for her classmates at school this year.
The hearts come in a variety of colors: striped on one side, solid on the back.  The paper is thinner than our regular card stock so in order to stabilize it to be strong enough to hold the sucker I added a heart shape of coordinating color on the back.  I was thrilled when I found a bundle of all red Tootsie Roll Pops at our local Dollar Store.  It works out perfectly for Valentine's Day!
Just keeping it simple for Gracie to make by herself.  She was very happy with the outcome.  Now we just need to mass produce.

Bloomin' Heart

Thursday, January 21, 2016
This is the beautiful card that we made at our January Card Club.  It's hard to see the elegant embossing on the front using the Elegant Dots Embossing folder, but in real life it is stunning!
With a couple extra kits I had left over I changed it up from a Valentine Card to a Wedding Card
I absolutely love the BLOOMIN' HEART THINLITS DIES.  I wanted to feature the fact that your heart cutout does not need to be just a heart, by sandwiching it between 2 pieces of card stock you can make it anything you choose.  I have seen it done in a variety of shapes as well as the beautiful butterfly card I made last week for the open house

How cute is this next card made by Carla?
Carla used the Friends and Flowers Stamp Set that she won at the OnStage in Wisconsin.  This stamp set coordinates perfectly with the Festive Flower Builder Punch that was carried over from the Holiday Catalog.  She also used the stamp set Big News from the Annual Catalog.

Shoe Box Swap

Tuesday, January 19, 2016
Last night Carla, Donne and I had a Shoe Box Swap together and a lovely dinner out prior to all the ladies coming for Card Club.  I would say that one of the best parts of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is the amazing friendships that I have found through our common interest and love for stamping and creating cards and treats.
This is the card that I chose for my swap.  I used the stamp set TIMELESS TEXTURES (which I won at the ON STAGE in Wisconsin) and I brushed the WOOD ELEMENT with WINK OF STELLA - I must say this is probably my favorite product in the new Occasions Catalog!!  It is hard to see it sparkle on the photo but let me tell you, this easy to use, quick to dry sparkly pen is PERFECT for all your projects.  You can even use it in your scrapbooking (hint-hint - Saturday is the ALL DAY SCRAPBOOKING DAY from 9 am to 6 pm and there is still room for you!  Cost is $25 which covers a delicious muffins and beverages for your breakfast, soups, homemade bread and beverage for your lunch, and complete access to all my supplies: punches, dies, paper - whatever you need for your scrapbooking that day) RSVP by Friday January 22nd
At the last minute I decided they needed a treat too - using the fabulous LOVE BLOSSOMS DESIGNER SERIES PAPER STACK and BLUSHING BRIDE cardstock and GLIMMER PAPER. The pearls and sating ribbon are in the LOVE BLOSSOMS EMBELLISHMENT KIT.
They kind of coordinate, don't you think?

Sentimental Sunday

Sunday, January 17, 2016
I can't believe this young man is all grown up and he got married yesterday!!
Nick came into my care when he was 7 years old and stayed until he went to middle school
This picture was probably taken closer to the time he "aged-out", but these kids are forever-mine.  In fact Nick and his family lived right next door and we got to be a part of their lives all along.  We don't see them as much since we moved into the condo, but my love for these kids never change.
So very thankful that I got to share in their special day!
Congratulations Nick and Kelsey!

Snow Friend

Friday, January 15, 2016
This is the card that Gracie will find in her lunch bag today.  This one is a bit bigger than the 3x3's that I have been putting in, only because I couldn't fit this cute little penguin AND his igloo onto a 3x3.  Therefore this card measures 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".  I have seen several demonstrators make something similar (this one was inspired by Tina Rappe) and when I saw this cute little penguin sitting on my workstation I knew I wanted to make up something for Gracie's lunch bag.  I'm sure Gracie and her friends are enjoying sledding during their recess breaks just like this little penguin would.
Here are the products that I used on this card:
