Counting Down to Easter

Friday, March 31, 2017
Only 2 weeks until Easter Sunday
I love the Simplicity of this card. What makes it so amazing is the FALLING IN LOVE Designer Paper that the EASTER MESSAGE Cross was stamp on. I stamped in VERSAMARK and heat embossed with GOLD EMBOSSING POWDER. I colored in the cross with Sahara Sand and the Shroud with CLEAR WINK OF STELLA.

Class of 2017 Star Blast

Thursday, March 30, 2017
Another Graduation card using the BIRTHDAY BLAST Stamp Set (Bundle) with the STAR BURST EDGELIT DIES.  This card was out for the ladies to make at one of my COME STAMP WITH ME TUESDAY classes.
Inside is a cool fold technique.  Of course, if the ladies didn't need a graduation card they could easily use this for a birthday card simply by skipping the CLASS OF 2017 and add a Birthday sentiment. This is the beauty of my Tuesday open-house style class, they can choose to change it up a bit, as needed for their card giving.  In fact, if they need a different school color I am happy to let them change it up.

Celebrate You for Graduation

Wednesday, March 29, 2017
The next request for the store is graduation cards. 'Tis the season for graduations and weddings!!
Since I had the STAR BLAST EDGELIT DIES out I thought I would use it for some graduation cards.
I used a retired stamp set for the inside sentiment (PURE GUMPTION).  Karen made her inside as a birthday which was great but since I needed Graduation cards I thought this would certainly work for either.
This card was inspired by Karen Angel

Birthday Blast for a Wedding

Tuesday, March 28, 2017
The store where I supply cards to sell has been asking for more wedding cards.
STAR BLAST Edgelit Dies to the rescue!
And, of course, I am using a favorite Designer Series Paper FALLING IN LOVE.  I love the lacy look to this pattern.
Inside I used the stamp set BETTER TOGETHER and the "Congratulations" is from FLOURISHING PHRASES.
I cut the Star Blast from the DAZZLING DIAMONDS GLIMMER PAPER. I did find that it was a bit tricky and needed to use a shim and run it through the BIG SHOT a few times. (of course, all Big Shots are calibrated slightly different and yours may not give you the same issue that mine did). I cut the DAZZLING DIAMONDS GLIMMER PAPER 4" x 5 1/4" and then cut the STAR BLAST by sitting the die at the top, run it though, carefully remove the die, then run it through again on the bottom portion of the 4" x 5 1/4" leaving the solid section in the middle in tact.  The "Congratulations" is stamped on Sahara Sand (1/2" wide) using VERSAMARK INK and heat embossed with WHISPER WHITE EMBOSSING POWDER. I cased this card from JanB and she showed how she used the STAR CONFETTI BORDER PUNCH for the smallest stars.

Guest Stamper - Becky C

Sunday, March 26, 2017
This week I received this card from my faithful friend, Becky!
I adore these cute little chicks!
Thanks Becky for your thoughtfulness - you brighten my days!
Here is an update on how I am doing - post surgery...
My healing is right on schedule and I am in my tennis shoes even earlier than I thought I would be.
Using the knee cart and the walking boot has totally thrown off my back though, so now I am dealing with that and the pain that goes down my legs because of it.  It sure isn't fun getting old.
Thanks to everyone who has kept me in their prayers.  It is still a process but I am looking forward to some super nice days ahead before the second foot surgery on May 19th!
Thanks for stopping by!

This card was inspired by Lisa Curcio.
As "luck" would have it, I had one gold embossed Marquee Messages arrow sitting on my workstaion from some prior cards. I had been shuffling it around wondering if I should pitch it or save it.  Glad I didn't pitch it, because I simply adore this card.  I haven't had my HEY CHICK stamp set out lately, and it is also one of the FREE items you can get through Sale a bration with a qualifying purchase. I changed up the greeting on the front and added the inside by using the April 2016 Paper Pumpkin EXTRA stamp set that they included in our monthly subscription for their birthday month.  Remember I told you that Stampin' Up! was adding an extra gift in the April 2017 kit?  Well, I love the extra set that they added to the one last year!! Don't miss out - subscribe by April 10, 2017 to get the April Paper Pumpkin Kit.
Click on the links provided at the beginning of this blog to check it all out.

Paper Pumpkin Special

Thursday, March 23, 2017
I have not promoted Paper Pumpkin too terribly much.
Why? oh, maybe because I'm lazy or because I haven't had a ton of success in getting you all to subscribe, but the few ladies that have subscribed, REALLY enjoy getting their special surprise in the mail every month.
Let me share with you the March Paper Pumpkin Kit
Aren't these little bunny treats and 3x3 cards adorable??
One fun thing to do with your Paper Pumpkin Kit to make up alternate ideas using the same elements that come in the kit, and maybe some extra product you have on hand as well.
This is what I came up with for the Bunny Buddies March Kit:
The 3x3 card is made as instructed, but I took another one of the 3x3 cards and made this cute little bunny box. The card measures 3x6 and I scored it at 1 3/8", 2 3/4", 4 1/8", 5 1/2". Then I rotated it 90º  and scored at 1". You have to ignore the score line at the 3" when you fold on all your score lines. Just assemble by adding Fast Fuse (for a nice tight hold) on the 1/2" scored line and on one of the bottom flaps.  I pinched in the sides, added a Hershey Kiss to the inside and added a MINI PAPER CLIP to hold it shut. (the mini clothespins in the kit are not strong enough to hold it shut)
I stamped the cute bunny face prior to assembly, then stamped the bunny ears on some scrap VERY VANILLA Card Stock, cut them out and added the sticker insides, and then I attached them with glue dots to the back of the box.
Here is a visual...

This second one is fun and it is also made using one of the 3x3 cards in the kit.  For this one you make a small mark on the 3" side at 1 1/2".  Do the same on both sides.  Now using your PAPER TRIMMER and the SCORING BLADE  line up the small mark in the area where you would cut or score your cardstock and also put your 3" score line in that same line so that you will be making a diagonal score.  SCORE - do not cut!  You will do this 4 times to create this...

For this bunny treat I used the bunny face stamp and some retired punches to make my bunnies.
(WIDE OVAL, SMALL OVAL, 1 3/4" x 7/8" OVAL. and 1 3/8" x 5/8" OVAL).  The tiny heart from the COOKIE CUTTER BUILDER PUNCH is perfect to layer over the nose.  In the first 2 projects you can see I left them as-is.  I stamped the Easter Eggs and hand cute them out, popped them up on dimensional pieces to hold the easel bunny.
The box I used is a retired box die called MATCHBOX DIE, but boxes are so super easy to make if you don't have the die you can make a box like this:
Base: 4 3/4" x 5 1/4"
Score on all sides at 5/8" and 1 3/8" then cut away the sections shown and create your tabs.
Top: (wraps around base)
2 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Scored at 3/4", 2 7/8", 3 5/8" and 5 3/4"
Adhere the box together to create a base section and wrap around. See below...
I always hold a Paper Pumpkin Night on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm where you can work on your current Paper Pumpkin or a past one.  It is fun to bounce ideas off one another and the class time is FREE as my thank you for being a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber.
It is Paper Pumpkin's 4th birthday in April so we have been getting a tease from the home office.
This kit was designed by Sara Douglas  - the CEO of Stampin' Up! We are told that it was designed with a little bit of "SASS"!  I, personally cannot wait to see what it is.  We are also told that she is including a FREE GIFT in every box!!  Last year it was an extra stamp set, what will it be this year?
If you don't want to miss out on this next kit, you need to subscribe by April 10th.  Click HERE to subscribe. An added bonus is if you sign up before March 31st and subscribe to a 3 month package for only $55.00 you will get a FREE Sale a bration gift as well.
I would say that this is a WIN-WIN situation.  If you find that Paper Pumpkin is not for you, you can easily unsubscribe or suspend your subscription.

Card Make-Over

Wednesday, March 22, 2017
This is one of the cards that we made at the March Stamp a Stack classes
I had a few kits leftover and decided to make some changes. I moved the little FALLING IN LOVE EMBELLISHMENT to other areas - which on do you like best?
I royally messed up on one of them and totally had to toss it out.  I had a leftover stamped image from a previous class sitting on my work station so I decided to give it a try on my leftover card base.
I just love it when it all works out like this
Here are the Stampin' Up! Supplies that I used for this card. (sorry that I cannot remember who I cased)

Make & Takes

Inez was also our guest demonstrator at the Team Meeting.
Look at the darling card that she prepared for all of us to make:

I have had my eye on this technique called TWIST & POP UP CARD
I wanted to finish off the card so Inez graciously let me borrow her stamp set and dies and this is what I did
I have a plan to make something super special with this technique and I can't wait to make that one up too.

Happy St Patricks Day!

Friday, March 17, 2017
Celebrating St Patrick's Day with treats!
The "gold at the end of the rainbow" came from Irish mythology and the "luck" part of St Patricks Day is because if you are "LUCKY" enough to spot a leprechaun he MAY lead you to that gold at the end of the rainbow. But when I google Saint Patrick I find that St. Patrick's Day is founded in Christianity. You can read all about him HERE.  I do love it that Saint Patrick used the clover (3 leaf) to teach about the Trinity, and that he was a missionary to Ireland - his home land.
These are the treats that I made for Tyler and Gracie
These 2 kids love their candy (just like Gramma), but Sawyer's Mommy and Daddy prefer him to skip the candy and go for more natural treats.
So this is what I made for Sawyer.  I even made enough for the whole family.
And look at this strawberry I found - my very own "3 leaf clover" in the form of a strawberry.
This next treat is one I cased from Melissa Davies on Pinterest. I handed these out to the ladies who popped in on Tuesday for my COME STAMP WITH ME CLASS.
 Here is a close up
Thought I would make a card to match to send to Joey and Melissa. I used a retired stamp for the sentiment called GO GREEN, and BEST BIRDS Stamp Set along with the PETAL BURST Embossing Folder
These are the Stampin' Up Supplies that I used on my St Patrick's Day treats

Easter Lily

Thursday, March 16, 2017
Counting down to Easter Sunday
Only 4 more weeks!! (& 3 days)
Here is my next Easter Card using the EASTER MESSAGE Stamp Set
This time I used the Easter Lily image.
I stamped the flower and the sentiment in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Gold embossing powder.  Then I colored in the leaves with Wild Wasabi and the centers to the flowers in Daffodil Delight. I brushed a little Clear Wink Of Stella over just the flower to help it stand out.
I used a retired Embossing Folder embossing only part way up leaving room for the sentiment.
The card base is Wisteria Wonder.
